Q:

the oven igniter turns red but the burner doesn't always come on what's wrong? 36275507000 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Thank you for contacting Sears. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore range.

I can understand the frustration of your range not functioning properly, after researching model number 362.75507000. Based on your symptom and details the glow bar oven igniter is weak and will need to be replaced. When the glow bar igniter becomes weak it cannot pull enough current/amperage to open the gas valve.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business, have a great day.

*Safety disclaimer before you try and repair the unit make sure the power supply is disconnected. There may be sharp parts to the unit that can cause injury to you if not careful. Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand your concern with oil spilled in a burner. We are here to help. The burner on the top of the range can be removed very easy. For safety turn the gas off to the range and unplug. The burners on this range just lifts up. The instruction below will show you how to lift the top so you can clean up the oil. I don't recommend using this range until you clean it up, as the heat from the oven will cause the oil to spread to other areas. I hope this helps.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. You may visit SearsHomeServices.com and click on the red Start now button.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

The image below shows how to adjust the factory temperature setting on this range up to 35 degrees. I recommend that you check the oven temperature compared to the set temperature after the oven heats up and cycles on and off at least 5 times at operating temperature. Take an average temperature over a 10 minute period to determine the actual oven temperature. Make sure that you are using an accurate thermometer. Based on that temperature, you can use the procedure shown below to adjust the control for an offset. This should help you with that problem.

The oven may not be preheated to the exact operating temperature when the control indicates that it is preheated. That is why I recommend that you use the procedure described above and shown in the image below. If the operating temperature is accurate, I do not recommend that you replace any components or adjust the range. Give the range a little longer to preheat if necessary. In some situations, the range may take slightly longer to preheat.

If the operating temperature is more than 35 degrees off when measured properly, then you may need to replace the oven temperature sensor or the clock control board. Reply with additional details if you need more help.

If you get to a point where you want to have a service technician examine the range, then you can schedule one through this link: Sears Home Services .
