Q:

Bake Setting Doesn't Work?! 36275488890 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the range.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Gas Range model number 36275488890.

Sounds like you just need a new bake element.   Below is the way you can test it out so you will know for sure.

TESTING ELECTRIC RANGE ELEMENTS:

1.  Unplug th oven from the wall outlet.

2.  Remove the racks from inside when you have the oven door opened.

3.  The elements have a screw on each side and need to remove the screws and pull the wires from the
    elements out.

4.  Turn the dial on a multimeter to Rx1k.  Place one lead from the meter on the terminal at the end
of the element, then place the other lead on the end of the other termial.  The needle on the
multimeter should register between 19 and 115 ohms.  Replace the element if no reading registers
    on the meter.

5.  If the elements are good then take the meter and test both wires that you hook to the bake/broil
    elements.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs. Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thank you for your question. I know it's frustrating when the oven stops working. Check to see if there is an error code in the display. If both bake and broil are not working and both glow coils do not work, the most likely problem will be with the control. Sometimes disconnecting the power for 30 seconds and then reconnecting it may correct the problem. Another check you can make will be to disconnect the power and then remove the wires on the Ba and L connections on the control (see image). Now reconnect the power and if the bake burner now works, the control # WB27K10142 will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

It does not read a code. I did the power cycle, but nothing. I DO syy the indicator lights ( Oven Broiler) work and hear a click, like the control IS doing "something?" I was unable to perform that last disconnect on BA L thing, but will have time soon I hope. That control is almost 200. to my door. I hate to get it if it IS something else. Is there a way I can tell for sure? I am a tech. Commercial Refrigeration/AC, Just dont know this oven or have any schematic. Would like one if available? dan

Dan, refer to the information and image listed above to check the control. Connect the wires on the on the BA and L terminals together and if the bake burner works, the control will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you.

Dan, I'm attaching a picture of the control board that is showing for this model. Jump the yellow and red wires on this control board to see if it will bake. I hope this helps you.
