Q:

oven not working on gas range 362.75471691

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your Oven does not light on your range. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found useful information that will assist you in the repair. I did show the reasons for burner not to light is no gas supply or no electricity.

How to check for gas:
  1. Try turning on one of the surface burners (if wall oven, try the broil burner). If the burner lights then there is gas coming to the unit.
  2. If the burner does not light, then check that the main gas shut off valve is in the 'ON' position. (Its usually located behind the appliance)
  3. If the gas shut off valve is in the 'OFF' position, turn it to the 'ON' position and see if the bake burner lights.
  4. If the appliance still doesn't light, then contact the gas company. If using L.P., check to see if the fuel tank is empty (L.P. only).

How to check for electricity:

  1. Check to see if the surface burner will light. (If a wall oven, try the broil burner)
  2. If surface burners spark, or the broil burner lights, then you know you have voltage coming to the unit.
  3. If not, try resetting the circuit breaker. Turn it to the off position for 60 secs then back to the on position. (Or replace the household fuse if applicable.)
  4. If the burner still does not spark, then you have a voltage issue.
  5. Contact a local electrician.

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

A:

There is no pilot on this model. The surface uses spark ignitors and the oven uses glow-bar ignitors. Both are electric.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Your model range does not have any standing pilots. Your model uses an electronic spark ignition for the surface burners and the oven uses a broil and bake glow bar igniter to ignite the oven burners. Unplug the power cord on the range from the power source and then there will be no chance of a spark or open flame.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

My mistake. The replaced broiler ignitor works. How long does the ignitor stay on after igniting?

A:

Yes, this is normal operation. The glow bar igniter stays on as long as the burner is on. When the thermostat cycles off the oven, the igniter will go off also.
