Question and Answers

Q:

I need to know the name of a part to order one

A:

Getting the right part is critical to a working range. I see you have completed some repairs and need another. That is so often the case with repairs. The expert will review and respond but I attached the link to sears Parts Direct below that has both diagrams and a parts list. I hope this link helps you find the part needed.

It sounds like you are describing a stove top burner that keeps getting gas even though the knob is turned off (not the oven burner). You will need to replace the burner valve for that stove top burner. I circled that component in red on the parts diagram in the image below. It is Key 15 on the parts listing. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number will depend on the exact burner that you are replacing (right front, right rear . . .). If you need more help ordering that part, reply with additional details about which burner that you are having a problem with.

That type of repair will normally need to be completed by a service technician since the gas line connections will need to be properly installed and leak checked. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

If you complete this repair yourself, be sure that you properly install that valve and leak check the gas line connections. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components.

no Lyle W it really is the oven that I am having problems with. all of my burners light just fine. Now here is where we are at: have installed new oven burner (old one had a hole burned in it so I did need to replace) then the oven would not go off. Son had to shut off gas to supply line. then we ordered pressure regulator. installed turned on supply line, stove top works so we know we are getting gas to the stove, oven ignitor lit up but the oven bruner bar did not. and there is no smell of gas going to the oven. just to the stove. before we replaced the regulator we did have gas coming to the burner but it would not go out. now we need to know what part you think it is we need to fix my kenmore oven!

There is a service shut-off valve on that regulator that is circled in green on the image below. Make sure that the tab is in the "on" position to supply gas to that oven. That may fix your gas supply issue. The operation of the ignition system is described in the video link that I provided below. You could have a problem with that safety gas valve (part WB19K31) or the igniter (part WB2X9998) that is preventing the burner from getting gas. This information may help you fix the oven burner problem in your range. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
