Question and Answers

Q:

I have gas ranger oven that does not maintain the set temperature. 362-746-21300

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Range, Model: 362.74621300. I’m so sorry you’re having trouble and will be happy to see what might be causing the issue. On reviewing your model, when this type of problem occurs, it will lead to either a defective control or sensor. In most models the oven temperature sensor probe is located inside the oven cavity in the rear upper left hand corner or possibly in the rear upper right hand corner. It can be taken out and tested using an OHM meter. Be sure to disconnect the power first. The oven temperature sensor should have a resistance measurement of 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the sensor measures approximately 1100 ohms, the control will probably need to be replaced.

Safety Warning: Before beginning this repair, disconnect the power supply to the range to prevent risk of injury from electrical shock.

Caution: internal parts may have sharp edges that may cause serious cuts. Use caution and wear protective gloves if possible.

If you’re not feeling confident/comfortable repairing this problem yourself, you could have it repaired by a sears technician at your home. Here is the link and phone number for our technicians. Sears Home Services or-1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and have yourself a wonderful rest of your day.

My stove model is: Kenmore gas range model # 362.7462.1300 It cannot be this hard. There must be a way to slide the top open???

The image below shows how to lift the cooktop on this type of range. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before lifting that cooktop.

If that nest is under the burner box, then I recommend that you have a service technician examine and repair the range. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details.
