Q:

replacing clock and timer on sears gas stove

A:

I understand that you are trying to install your clock and timer, and it can definitely be frustrating not being able to figure it out on your own. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful.

The new clock should have three shafts installed in the timer from the factory. You should only need to install the knobs on the shafts. I don't recommend trying to get into the clock to install the shafts (keys).

I recommend you call Sears Parts Direct at 1-800-252-1698 and ask them to send you another clock.

Part number WB19X10008 should work on your stove. Without the "mode" shaft to press you can't "wake up" the clock.

I ordered the clock some time ago. Not sure Sears would take it back as it is manufactured by GE. If you google WB19X10008 Gas Range Electronic Digital (LED) Kit you can see what it looks like and you can see what appears to be holes in the mode, up and down areas to place the keys. Mine came with what appears to be a cover over each area without a hole and without adequate instructions. I called the Sears folks for help. The first fellow I spoke with sounded knowledgeable. Then I got cut off. He didn't call me back even though he had my number. Another clock costs over $100. A tank of gas. Thanks

If there are holes in the front of the clock for the keys to go in, put them in. You probably need to pry the covers off the holes. I pulled the instruction sheet for installing the WB19X10008 clock and it made no mention of installing keys in the clock. Reread the instruction sheet you got with the clock and see if there are instructions for installing the keys.

I am sure there are holes under the covers. GE didn't supply instructions regarding this problem and I thought their may be a special tool or way to remove the covers. I guess they are just interested in selling parts. Thanks for your comments.

Here is the deal. I removed the digital clock and I could see the keys were in place. However, I have read where wiring could be difficult. That occurs with faulty instructions. I moved the white and red wires and the clock came to life. I believe vendors send out messed up wiring diagrams so that people are forced to call an repairman out. I also found a place in Iowa that repairs and replaces the older GE analog clock for half the price of the digital. Have a good weekend.

My Kenmore gas range, 362.7352891 oven is not heating properly. It starts well and then the gas flow diminishes by 80% and sputters.Everything else works well.

This sounds pretty dangerous like a skin burn just waiting to happen. I would suggest you to just schedule for a technician to go to your home just to be safe. You can go onto the Sears Home Services website and schedule it there. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

The problem could be either the gas pressure regulator or the oven safety valve.

Normally if the gas pressure regulator causes this problem it will show some of the same problem on the top burners. Turn all the top burners on high at once. If the problem is the gas pressure regulator it should cut back the gas to the top burners also.

If the top burners will burn ok on high, I suspect the problem with the oven is in the oven safety valve.

I am sending you the part number and price of the gas pressure regulator and the oven safety valve. You can order the part you need at [www.searspartsdirect.com].
