Question and Answers

Q:

why does my broiler work and the burners work but the oven wont turn on or heat up?

A:

This could be an igniter problem or safety valve. The igniter can glow but still be defective. To determine if the problem is the valve or igniter, the current draw will need to be taken. When the igniter glows, clamp an amp probe around one of the wires and check the amps. It should draw approx. 3 amps but it must draw at least 2.5 amps in order for the valve to open. If it fails to draw this amperage, the igniter # WB2X9154 will need to be replaced. If it does draw this current, the valve # WB19K14 will need to be replaced. To access the igniter and valve, remove the oven bottom and then the flame deflector. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears’s technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

The over igniter will not even emit a glow. You were right on with the igniter model #. I appreciate that and your suggestions about accessing the area.
