A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore range 36271675890. I am so sorry the switch stem broke. I will be happy to help you with which part to order. You will need the igniter switch, part number WB24K10002. The thermostat only deals with the oven.

Q:

oven

A:

It is a good thing to know that your oven is working but not to turn it off can be a bit of a problem. I have searched here on Manage My Life for an answer to your question and noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I have attached the link below if you are interested in viewing the web page while waiting on your response from an expert. Hope this helps, good luck!

A:

The answer Alina F sent you is a good answer but it is for a different style range than yours. I am sending you the tests to determine the problem with your range.

When you turn the thermostat on your range on it sends 120 volts to the oven safety valve and ignitor. The oven safety valve and ignitor are wired in series and the ignitor draws all the current and heats up. As the ignitor heats its resistance changes and when it is cherry red the current switches to the gas valve and it opens. The amp draw on the ignitor needs to be 3.2-3.6 amps for the gas valve to open. The gas valve has gas to it at all times.

The gas valve should open within 40 seconds after the ignitor starts to glow.

You need to turn the gas off to the range and turn the oven thermostat on. If the oven ignitor glows red, turn the thermostat to off and see if the ignitor stops glowing red. If the ignitor stops glowing, the oven safety valve is bad. If the ignitor continues to glow red with the thermostat turned off, the oven thermostat is bad.

Q:

How do I change my range from natural gas to propane?

A:

To change your range from natural gas to propane, you need to replace the top burner orifices. The oven orifice and the regulator can be changed over to propane.

The instructions for converting the range to propane are covered in the installation information in the owners manual.

You can order an owners manual by ordering part number SR4241 and the top burner orifices are part number WB28K8. The manual costs around $5.00 and the orifices cost around $4.00 each.

You can search for an owners manual on this site by following the instructions below. When you enter your model number use 3627167, this will give you a broader search.

Go to the Home page of Manage My Home and hold your mouse over the square
labeled HOME in the upper left of the page. A drop-down menu will appear,
choose the option Products and manuals.

For this model enter the following:

Type of Product Range Brand Kenmore Model no.
3627167

Select Find manuals at the bottom of the page to search for your manuals. Choose
the blue Owner's manual (pdf) link for your product from the search results
and it will open your manual for viewing online.

You can save a copy of the manual to your Home Profile or, on most computer
systems, download or print the manual while you are viewing it.

If the manual can't be found, please call the Manage My Home Member Services
Team at 1-800-803-6775, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Central Time. They will be
more than happy to help you track down the manual.
