Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Gas should not enter the bake burner until the glow bar igniter pulls enough current/amperage to cause the oven safety valve to open.

I recommend opening the broiler drawer and monitor the glow bar igniter and burner operation. Keep a safe distance while monitoring the burner operation.

Start the oven and watch the glow bar igniter. If it takes a long time for the igniter reach a bright red glow and if it takes a long time before the oven safety valve to open then I would suspect a weak glow bar igniter. Remove and replace the igniter.

If flames the oven burner flames are too high then it may a faulty oven burner, oven safety valve or possibly a faulty pressure regulator. I recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair your gas range.

The glow bar igniter is part #WB2X9154 which can ordered from Sears PartsDirect

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
