Q:

How does the spool come off the shaft on my trimmer?

A:

You can find the owner's manual at the main Manage My Home website. Just type in your model number and it will come right up in .pdf format.

The head should just screw from the shaft. Some units will have a screw or retainer inside the head that has to be removed to remove the entire head assembly.

Q:

How do I get the line spool off my trimmer to put more line on?

A:

The spool should pull straight down and off the head assembly. There are no screws or other external mechanisms holding the spool on, just a retainer and spring inside the assembly that the spool clips over once in place. Centrifugal force works against the retainer to keep the spool locked in place when it is turning.

If you are having trouble removing it, there may be grass or dirt or other debris built up inside the spool that is jamming the retainer slightly. Try working the assembly side-to-side slightly while pulling it down and it may come free faster. Be sure to clean it before reinstalling to prevent problems next time the spool is reloaded.
