I am sending an image showing the routing of the fuel lines on most leaf blowers. If your blower is different than the image, reply on this thread and I will be glad to help.

This is exactly the same blower and question I had as the 2/12/12 post above (Craftsman 2 cycle gas blower model 358.798980). The diagram you provided above looks like it should answer the basic question, but it prints very small and fuzzy. Is it possible to send a larger, clear image? Also, I believe one line on the image provided is labeled "main fuel line", but I can't read the other line. What is it labeled? In my line kit I bought online, it has 2 lines. 1 line is a little larger than the other. Which line is the main fuel line and which size is for the other line (vent?)? The line kit also came with one vent fitting (from looking at the parts list and schematic, I believe that is what it is). Where does that go? As happened to the customer above, my lines were all crumbled and destroyed so there was no way of simply retracing how they were originally installed. But I found 2 vent fittings in the rubble. However, the line kit I bought only had 1 vent fitting. In any case I don't know their purpose or where to install them. Sorry this is a lot of questions, but please answer all of them. Thanks, Rock White

Q:

Fuel tank only has one hole 358798980 Craftsman Blower vacuum

A:

Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com, and for being a valued member.

There should be two holes in the fuel tank for the fuel line routing. The small fuel line is the main feed line. This line will have the fuel filter attached to it. The supply line should be long enough that the filter can reach all areas of the tank so if the blower is tipped the filter can move with the fuel. The larger line is the return line from the carburetor. That line just goes into the tank about a 1/2 inch.

To install the line cut the end of the line at an angle. Then push the pointed end of the line into the tank. Once you have it started into the tank reach into the tank with long forceps and pull the line in. After you have the line pulled in, cut the angled end flush and attach the filter. Just make sure the line is long enough for the fuel filter to lie on the bottom of the tank.

The fitting is not necessary in most cases. Very few machines "require" the little check valve to be in place. Many of the new machines do not even have one to start with. It's not a bad idea to put it back in place if you have it and can, but it's not a deal breaker for the machine. They would go on either end of the main feed line, but you should be okay without them if it seems like a hassle.

I have attached the fuel routing diagram below for reference. I hope this helps, and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Initial number of turns on mixture needlefrom closed position 358798980 Craftsman Blower vacuum

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The manufacturer recommends to have the mixture screw set to 1 1/4 turns out from closed for the initial setting. It can then be adjusted for maximum efficiency.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
