I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. I suspect the problem with the trimmer is a broken gear. To check the gears plug the trimmer from the cord and remove the cover plate. With the cover is removed you should be able to see the broken gear. Once you determine the broken parts you can order them from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

How do I get the nut loose to install the gear. I got the gear from Sears Parts, but there are no instructions with it or in the manul.

A:

This is normally a throw away item. The cost for most any repair is more then the cost of a new trimmer. There is no repair manual or instructions. If the nut is tight, you can try some WD40 or Rust Buster that might help free it.
