A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your hedge trimmer. Upon researching model 358795750; fuel can break down rubber and plastics. This could cause the rubber to stick to the tank. The fuel line could feel stuck.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your trimmer. I should be able to help you repair the trimmer. I will list the basic steps in repairing the pull starter. Remove the trigger housing on the drive shaft by removing the 4 screws and separating the housing. Make note of how the trigger and the throttle cable mount in the housing.Remove the clamp on the clutch cover and remove the drive shaft and housing from the clutch. (it pulls out).Remove the screws from the clutch cover and remove the cover. To remove the clutch drum, remove the small torx head bolt in the center of the drum. The clutch drum will slide off the engine shaft. next you have to remove the clutch by unthreading it from the crank shaft.  If the engine shaft turns when you are removing the clutch, remove the spark plug and fill the cylinder with small clean rope. The rope will jam the piston and stop the engine from turning. Please click [ here | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FcFkbxhAXU&feature=relmfu ] to watch a video on how to remove the clutch. Remove the screws holding the fan housing to the engine and remove the fan housing. The rope and the starter pulley are inside the fan housing. Be very careful removing the starter pulley and spring. The spring will unwind violently if it is released. As you install the rope on the pulley, turn the pulley. Let the turning of the pulley wind the rope and it will load the spring so it will retract. Please click [ here | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt-bUuX8Q28  ] to watch a video on how to repair the rope.

Thank you for your question on the Hedge trimmer wiring for the kill switch.

You are exactly correct with the kill switch wiring.

I am sorry that if you sent any pictures I cannot see them.

One of the wires goes to the side of the armature coil and directly to the on/off switch. The other end goes to the frame of the engine as a ground so when you turn the switch off it will kill the spark to the spark plug and stop the engine.

You could run the unit with the kill wire but for safety reasons I would not suggest that. If you need to do an emergency stop of the engine quickly it may take to long to choke it out to kill it.

There should be a screw locate on the block of the engine with in the reach of the wire length for the ground wire.

I will give you the part number for the wire harness below if you choose to install a new replacement wire.

Replacement ignition wire for Hedge trimmer model 358.795750 .

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you. After quickly grounding out the ig mod, there still does not appear to be any spark which of course would lead me to believe the ig mod itself is bad. I thought I had seen a post of your previously noting the gap specs to replace the module? So if I took a feeler gauge of the correct size and placed it at the 2 magnetic contacts point between the ig module and the flywheel and then bolted the new ig module in place, this would work?

Thank you for the update on the trimmer. If you ground out the kill wire and the switch is off you will not get any spark to the spark plug. That circuit has to be open for the coil to supply spark. If you are going to change the module then use a 0.10 to 0.12 feeler gauge to set the air gap on the ignition module. I hope this will help. Sam A.
