Q:

Replacing fuel and return lines. 358795660 Craftsman Gas hedge trimmer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
The feed line with the fuel filter will need to rest or sit at the bottom of the tank. Ensure there is enough slack so it rests at the bottom of the tank. The return line should come into the tank about an inch or so. This line should not be submerged in fuel when the tank if full. It should allow the excess fuel from the carb to run back into the tank. The use of the fitting may or may not be required to use, depending on whether yours is still intact.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Jeff, 1. Can you confirm that Part #530069599 contains both a FEED (Supply) line and a RETURN fuel line? a, How long is each fuel line? b. What are the Inner and Outer Diameters (OD & ID) or each line? c. Is the FEED (Supply) line one or two pieces? 2. NOTE: The original FEED line came in two sections with the NYLON UNION fitting inside the tank. Is this configuration necessary? I would like to use one long piece of FEED line as a repair. Any objections? 3. A timely reply will be appreciated.

Which fuel line connects where? 358795660 Craftsman Gas hedge trimmer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry; we do not have written instructions for the routing of the fuel lines on your product. Our technicians are taught the basic routing because the routing cannot change much from year to year. If you have one large fuel line and one smaller this eliminates some chance for error.

The routing of the fuel lines vary from model to model. Keep in mind that the primer bulb circulates fuel from the tank, through the carburetor, and back into the fuel tank. One line goes from the fuel tank to the carburetor. One line goes from the fuel tank to the primer bulb, from the primer bulb to the carburetor, and back to the fuel tank. The small line in the fuel tank should have the filter attached to it. I have added a sketch below of how the fuel should flow in the circuit.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
