Q:

Craftsman blower model 358.794740 wont start Craftsman Blower/vac

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when having trouble with the blower/vac.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Craftsman Blower/Vac model number 358.794740.

There are 2 items that will cause the blower to spark, to fire and start.   That is the spark plug (make sure you have the right one and gapped correctly) and the ignition module (which is the piece the spark plug wire is attached with) which I have on the link below.
Spark plug gap is set at 0.025inch.    The ignition timing is fixed and nonadjustable.  Spark plug is a RCJ-6Y.

When you changed the fuel lines, hope you changed the fuel filter too.    Make sure you also change or keep clean the air filter for a better running of the blower/vac.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the blower. If the fuel mixture in the blower is older than 5 weeks old, it should be drained. Then refill with fresh fuel mix. If this does not help I suspect there is a problem with the fuel system. I recommend checking in the fuel tank first. When you look in the tank, you should see a fuel line with a white filter attached to the end. Then inspect the fuel line. If it is hard and brittle, it has to be replaced. Here is a video that shows how to replace the fuel line. If the fuel line is fine, I suspect the carburetor is to blame. The carburetor will have to be cleaned or replaced. Here is a video that show how to clean the carburetor. Before you remove the carburetor, make sure to note the fuel line and cable connections. This will save a lot of frustration later.

I suspect you have a fuel line that is leaking fuel and drawing air. If the fuel line leaks air into the fuel system, the diaphragm inside the carburetor stops pumping fuel.

I recommend replacing the fuel filter and both fuel lines.

You can order parts and see a parts diagram at Parts Direct The part numbers you will need are:

I am sending an image showing the routing of the fuel lines in case you need it.
