Q:

Chainsaw shuts down when it gets hot 358360380 Craftsman Chainsaw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the chainsaw stopping intermittently. I know how frustrating that is.

I think you hit it on the head with the fuel cap. The fuel caps need to vent, otherwise negative pressure builds and fuel flow stops. Once it cools down the the pressure subsides it will start up again. The fuel cap is probably not venting and will need replacement.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I know how important installation instructions are to make a seamless install.

These purge bulbs snap-in to a variety of Poulan engine carburetors found in chainsaws, line trimmers and other lawn care devices that use small engines.

The purge bulb has two plastic flex tabs that you will squeeze in from the back side to remove it from the housing.

Remove the two fuel lines and attach them to the new bulb and then push the new purge bulb back into the housing until you hear is clip into place.

Hopefully this will be helpful and will guide you to a successful installation.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having a problem with your Craftsman 358.360380 Chainsaw

A two cycle engine need three things to work.  Gas, spark and compression.

From the description you give you have spark and fuel.  You mention you do not have a compression gauge.  A simple test is to remove the spark plug and place you finger into the hole.  When someone pulles the starter cored there should be enough pressure to push your finger out of the hole.

If the compression seems okay then the next likely suspect would be the muffler.  A clogged muggler would also cause this type of problem.  There is a 5300719887 Muffler Kit that might help solve the problem.

I hope this helps.  You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.
