Question and Answers

Q:

Year and possible worth 358355051 Craftsman Sears chain saw

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how you would need to know the age of your chain saw. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found that your chain saw was made around 1987. If you are looking for replacement parts you can always visit searspartsdirect.com when you are ready. I do apologize, but we do not have the worth or estimate of how much the chain saw was when you first purchased it.  Since it is over 5-10 years old it is likely that some of the parts are no longer available.

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question Don.

I can understand wanting to have the manual for this older chain saw.

I am sorry that we do not have this manual for this older chainsaw in the web-site to download but it is available for purchase from:Sears Parts Direct . The part number for the manual is: 530066852 for about $12.00.

In looking at the parts breakdown you will need to remove the two screws that secure the top cover with the choke knob and then remove the screw from the handle to gain access to the fuel line that goes through the handle and down into the fuel tank.

You might want to go to the parts direct web site and put in the model number to look at the parts breakdown.

You will also need to remove the starter housing to get to the fuel tank.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for your question on the chain saw Todd. It looks to be around 1983. You have to use the serial number to figure that out. Usually the first few digits are the days of the year and the last ones are the year of production. As an example the one on the original question was 14900830. The 149th day of 1983. It is a little difficult to remember that far back as to cost of the unit, but I would say a $100.00 or less. Sam A.

I too have a Craftsman/ Poulan 2.0 with a 14 inch bar m/n 358.3555051 s/n 1E1682039 directions on saw say 1/2 pint to a gal of gas. If this is right that would be 16 to one mix ratio. Right? I have not been able to find any service information on this saw. It does run great presently but would like for future reference. I did order manual for the 2.99 as listed but am sure will not have much service info. Any help would be great!
