Fuel tank venting options 358354831 Craftsman Craftsman 3.7/18

Q:

Old craftsman chainsaw fuel line(s) & filter replacement 358.354831

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The second fuel line will stick into the tank about a half an inch or so. It's typically a return line that brings unused fuel back into the tank from the carb. If there is a secondary nipple on the carburetor, that line will connect to it.

The weight on the filter will keep it at the bottom of the tank, so just make sure there is enough slack in the new fuel line to allow the filter to rest at the bottom of the tank. Sometimes there will be a clip in the tank to hold the fuel line, but resources on this model are very limited due to the age, so I am not able to see much.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Gas Tank 358354831 Craftsman Craftsman 3.7/18", 3.7/18" ps chain saws

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Due to the age of the chainsaw, we are a little limited with the resources available, but usually there are two lines from the tank to the carburetor. One is the main feed line that brings the fuel from the tank to the carburetor, this is the line with the filter attached to it. The second line is considered a return line and goes from the carburetor back to the tank to bring any excess fuel back in the tank. Is there a second nipple on the carburetor that a fuel line could attach to? If so, I would route that line back to the second hole and stick the line in about an inch or so.
Hope that helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
