Q:

fuel line routing for 358354830 chainsaw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The larger diameter fuel line is the return, and goes from the carburetor into the tank. It returns the excess fuel back to the tank. It usually sticks into the tank about an inch or so. The smaller line is the feed line and will have the filter on it that sits on the bottom of the tank.

Due to the age of the chainsaw, I don't have a visual of the carburetor, but there should be two ports on it, one for each fuel line. They may be located on opposite sides, or on top and bottom, depending on the setup.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

How to install the fuel line on a Craftsman chainsaw model no. 358354830?

A:

Bend a small hook in one end of a clean piece of wire and catch the fuel line inside the tank. Pull the fuel line and filter out of the fill hole for the gas tank. Remove the filter from the end of the fuel line and pull the fuel line out of the hole in the tank the fuel line is going through. Make note of the length of line inside the tank, the new line needs to have the same amount of line inside the tank. This slack allows the filter to fall to the bottom of the tank when you turn the saw in different directions.

I am not sure which washer you are referring to. Put it back where the old one was located.

If you are replacing the gas tank you will need to remove the heat shield (item 49) to access the tank.

I attached the link below if you are interested in viewing. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a great day.

A:

The proper fuel oil mixture for your machine is 40 to 1. That is 40 parts gasoline to 1 part oil, or 3.2 oz. of oil per gallon of gas. Be sure to use only 2 cycle oil that is designed to be mixed with gasoline. The oil is available at your local Sears store of at Sears.com. Sears also carries a premixed gas and oil for your machine.

If I can be of further assistance please feel free to follow this thread with any questions you have along with the specifics.

I hope this helps.
