It sounds like there may be a linkage issue on your saw. The on/off switch doesn't sound like it's working as it should either. If the on/off switch is malfunctioning (and I think it is) then the engine is not going to fire because the switch is still in "off" preventing any spark.

I really think it would be best if you carried the saw in to have it repaired. It should have a warranty period on it and that would take care of this situation.

You may want to talk to the store where you purchased the saw and they may have someone that can take a look it to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

The model number of the saw in question is 358.350870 and it was purchased in 2007. Again I don't want the clutch cover that came with the saw. I want a red one that uses bar nuts to tighten the cover and bar down and a screw on the cover to adjust the tightness of the chain. I have talked with Poulan and it can be done.

Thanks for the help. I have a follow up question. I pulled the saw model you gave me on Parts Direct. There are three other parts shown that go on the clutch cover: 530069611 Chain adjuster screw, 530015826n Adjustable bar - pin, & 530038593. Do I need to order these seperately or do they come with the clutch cover?
