Q:

Proper installation of fuel lines 358351161 Craftsman Chain saw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Fuel line routing on chainsaws can differ, and the assembly of the lines are one of the things the manufacturers don't specify in great detail. However, I will be happy to help.

The filter will attach to the end of the small fuel line. This line is the fuel pick up line. The other line is the return line. To install the new fuel line you have to cut the end of the line at a severe angle. Push the angled end into the hole of the tank. Then reach into the fuel tank opening with a long pair of needle nose pliers and pull the fuel line into the tank. Once you have the correct amount in the tank cut the end of the fuel line square and install the fuel filter. The return line only has to hang in the tank about a 1/2 inch. The return line with the little check valve or fitting can pull right up to the hole. The fitting is not necessary in most cases. Very few machines "require" the little check valve to be in place. Many of the new machines do not even have one to start with. It's not a bad idea to put it back in place if you have it and can, but it's not a deal breaker for the machine.

On the carburetor, the smaller fuel line with filter will connect to the tip on the carburetor that is curved (usually).

We do not have a model specific diagram for the fuel line routing, but I have posted an image below that may help:

I have also found a couple of videos for replacing the fuel lines on a Craftsman Chainsaw that may be helpful to see, I have attached those blue links below.

Thank you for the information, however I do not know which is the inlet or outlet on the carb, both brass nipples are the same size diameter and both are straight. There is a brass nipple on the left and right of the carb and no markings for inlet or outlet.

Also the primer bulb nipples are the same size, not like the one you have pictured.

Q:

Route Throttle Cable 358.351161

A:

Part number 530047502 is not the part number of the throttle cable.  Part number 530047602 is the part number of the throttle cable.

I searched and we do not have a service manual or image showing how the throttle cable is routed. Take the chainsaw in and have technician install the throttle cable if you're not able to install it.
