Is it or should it remain open to air? On the Manuel schematic it does not show the oil or lubricant areas for placement? Why?

Hello, Making sure the right oil is used in an engine is very important. A suggestion I have is to check the owner's manual for the power equipment in question. I attached the link below for access to the manual. Just click on the link and enter the model number. Hope this helps!

If you will go to www.searspartsdirect.com and enter the model of the chainsaw, you can see a parts diagram and list for the chainsaw.

On image 1 item 31 is the oil tank. This diagram shows the button to dispense the oil to the chain and the cap for the tank.

You should use any good bar and chain oil or 20 weight motor oil in the saw.
