Belt sander belt breaks 351.22671

You are correct; as belts age they will break apart at the seams and are not usable. The average lifespan for a belt sander belt will be about 2 years before they deteriorate quickly while in use. 

I would recommend purchasing some new belts and you should be in good shape.
