Q:

RCA 32" TV (LED32A30RQ) no menu controls

A:

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your TV not working properly. We are here to help. Based on the symptom, the TV needs to be reset or a circuit board needs to be replaced. To reset the TV, unplug it from the outlet for five minutes, Next, plug the TV in and turn it on. If the problem still exists, the main circuit board  has cold solder joints in the control area. The images below shows how to troubleshoot that problem. However, unless you had training in electronics, I recommend scheduling service. This way the TV will be fixed properly without additional problems. I hope this helps.

If you do not feel comfortable repairing this problem yourself or if it is under warranty, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears Technician. You may visit SearsHomeServices.com and follow the instructions, then click on the red next now button.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Connection errors between the laptop and RCA television can be hard to diagnose. It sounds like you may have to contact RCA for support. I am attaching the link to rca.com. An expert will respond to your specific question within 24-48 hours.

Maestro...appreciate your suggestion, went to RCA first, TV is no longer under warranty, they sent me here. Have you ever been to the RCA site, definitely not user friendly. The page that indicates there is a form below where you can email your issue and get a response in 24-48 hours is blank cant't find an email address for service or support anywhere else. The 800 number to call is only for people with a current or extended warrantee

I do not think the issue is caused by software. You will need to lower the output resolution of the TV. Computers have a much higher resolution than a TV does. I would set the laptop to a 1024 by 768 and then hook it up to the TV.

Dusty J Appreciate the response, but have already tried that. My laptop prompted me to adjust the resolution to be compatible to the TV. The resolution adjustment was different for VGA hook up then HDMI hook up. Still got the "NOSUPPORT" error message with the resolution adjustment

The only thing that comes to mind is to set the resolution to the lowest possible setting prior to hooking it up to the TV. Do you have another laptop to try? It might be as simple as a compatibility issue between the TV and the laptop.

A:

Dusty J....I'll give the lowest resolution possible a try. The IBM laptop I tried to connect is running Windows 7 Pro, it also has the video's I wanted to view on the TV. I'll try connecting my HP mini note which runs XP and let you know if either suggestion works. Thanks

With the set only being a few months old I would recommend calling for service since it would be covered under warranty. Sears home service can be reached at 1-800-469-4663.

The problem could be a power supply problem.
