Q:

replacement collet 32028212 Craftsman Router

A:

I believe the collet just pulls out. I can't see anything on the drawings that indicates anything any different. It may just be stuck. If I find anything directing otherwise, I'll post that information here.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Wade: It looks like the parts are made and intended for the collet to be held captive within the nut because there is a deep neck in the collet. That's how my present part works. The collet is held captive within the net and it rotates within the nut. I just ordered a brand new collet and a new collet nut. The new collet does not slide through the nut. There is definitely interference. I tried to freeze the collet and slide it through, but there still is too much interference. I have no idea how to get the collet into the nut (or remove the old collet from the old nut). Any ideas would help.

I'll see if I can get the manufacturer to give us some advice on this situation. I'll post anything that I hear from them on this thread.

Ok. I figured it out. It is just a press fit. I lined them up in a vise and just squeezed until the collet closed a bit to fit into the nut. All done. Thanks!

I'm glad you got it worked out. I haven't heard anything back from the manufacturer on this, so it's good that you've got it taken care of. Thanks for letting me know.

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when looking for and getting the right parts.

It is very important going by the model number to get the correct parts, to get the correct size.   sorry to say these aren't universal.   Different companies have made these for Craftsman so therefore they are different.   I see the base plate on the model number and just click to see the correct ones.

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Thanks for writting back Lynn.   I am seeing two pieces between the plates that look like bushings but they call screws.   I will show you a picture and see if that is what you are needing.  It is key number 58 on the picture that I am looking at.   I can only look at the original parts that come with this particular model.

The bushings I am talking about can be found on the Sears website at: http://www.sears.com/search=router+bushing+set?vName=Tools&autoRedirect=true&viewItems=25&redirectType=CAT_REC_PRED I believe all of these bushings only fit the smaller holes found in all routers other than the palm router. Thanks,

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry Lynn for the miscommunication on my part.   Have had computer malfunction in getting back with people. I am sorry in that I can only look up the original parts.   THe bushings you see on the internet, you can order but I can't verify if they will fit.   They are an accessory item and I will not be able to verify, sorry to say.

If you have further questions please let me know.
