Q:

blower won't start 316794790

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the blower starting. I know how frustrating that is.

Did you verify spark before replacing the module? You can pull the plug, attach it to the boot, and ground it to the cylinder and have a helper pull the starter while you look for spark at the base of the plug. If you've got spark, it will be compression or fuel related. I hope you remembered to gap the module to .010", which is about the thickness of an index card.

If you've got spark, it's likely going to be an issue with fuel. You'll want to check the filter and fuel lines and make sure they aren't clogged or falling apart. If that checks out, you may have a clogged jet or passageway within the carb. These smaller carbs can be a nightmare to clean properly, and it's best to replace them.

If fuel checks out, you'll want to take a compression guage test to see if you've got compression. You will need a minimum of 90-100 PSI for the unit to start.

I hope these suggestions help and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Both machines have a 2 year manufacturer's warranty on them. So you can take them in to any Sears store and drop them off for service.

Given what's happening with them, it sounds like there may be a problem with either the starter or with the piston trying to seize up. You can remove the starter and spark plug and then see if you can spin the engine by hand to determine if it's the piston/cylinder with the issue or not.
