Question and Answers

Q:

Oil leaks out when I pull cord to crank 316792020 Craftsman Gas trimmer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. Usually when we see this problem, it is because the engine is over filled with oil. I recommend checking the oil level first. I believe that this engine only takes about 3.04 ounces of crankcase oil. Even if it is slightly over filled, it will leak. If it's overfilled, it has to go somewhere and the engine will pump it right back out.

Once the oil level has been adjusted, I recommend checking the air filter. If it is soaked with oil, remove it and clean it per the instructions in the manual.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Replace Trimmer Rope 316792020 Craftsman Gas trimmer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

We do not have any model specific information on rewinding the recoil spring because it's not made to be taken apart and serviced on this model. It's only offered as a starter assembly, part number 753-06096.

The best thing would be to go to YouTube and watch videos from similar units to get a feel for how it's done. If all else fails, you may need to purchase the assembly.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
