There are four small screws in the corners of a small plate that hold the primer bulb in place. One has to buy a replacement carburetor to replace a 5 cent part? This isn't right! Surely, this isn't right. If Sears holds to this, it'll darn sure be the last of anything I buy from them .... ever!

There are multitudes of fuel primer bulbs listed on the internet. The size for this bulb is 19mm outside diameter. Mostly, they are sent from China, less than $1 each and with free shipping. If you can remove the 4 screws (nuthin' to it!) and replace them, you can do it yourself. Why Sears is doing this (pushing $65 carburetors when all needed is the primer bulb) is beyond comprehension. Is Sears really THAT strapped for money?

A few steps to disassemble - but yes it can be opened and greased. Had to do this when the lower spring drive cable broke off in the gear drive - just remove the string head, the mount shaft under it, the small retainer and the cast iron plate on the splined output shaft - be careful these are left hand threads - then you can split the case - I needed a 13mm socket, 25 and 27 torx bits - not difficult - relube with moly grease used on auto cv joints.
