The drive shaft (spring) slips onto the clutch. You should be able to just pull the piece off of the clutch. If you are unable to pull it right off, I would think that the pieces are twisted into each other. If that's the case you will also need a new clutch drum to go with the drive shaft.

The shaft and drum images give the appearance that the 2 are splined to fit with one another. But they could be squared configuration instead of splines.

You can go HERE to look up any parts you may need to complete this repair.

Without more specific information I can only give you general assistance. Try removing the spark plug and attempt to crank the engine. Have rag handy to catch any oil that might blow out the spark plug hole. Be sure the spark plug is clean and dry.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

I hope this helps.

If I can be of further assistance please feel free to submit any questions you have along with the specifics.

Q:

it keeps stalling when accelerating. I already cleaned filter, changed oil I noticed oil is coming out of a hole inside onto the air filter.

A:

It sounds like the trimmer is overfilled with oil. This is easy to do with a new product and new oil. Carefully check the oil level and pour some out if it is overfilled.

If the oil level is ok, the trimmer will have to be checked by a technician.

Take the trimmer to a Sears Parts and Service Center or a Sears Retail Store for repair.
