Q:

Gas leak on Brushwacker

A:

The leak can be concerning. I did some research on your model number but was not able to find a solution.Your expert will be able to help answer your question. It may take two business days for your expert to reply. If you would like to look into Sears doing the repair you can check the store locator at [Sears.com] to see where to take the product too. I do hope that everything works out.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If it's not leaking between the fuel line and the barbed fitting, then I suspect the fitting is leaking where it's attached to the tank. If the return fuel line fits tight on the barbed fitting, the gas tank part #753-04311 will need to be replaced. The gas tank for model 316.790111 can be ordered from Searspartsdirect.com.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

That must be the problem. I don't have a barbed fitting. The line is just pushed up into the tank. Where can I purchase the barbed fitting?

A:

Keith: I stand corrected, I not lool at the image well enough to notice the fuel line presses and fits through the opening and it does not have a barbed fiitting. The fuel line should fit tight enough in the opening to prevent any fuel leakage. There is no barbed fitting that I could recommend trying. The fix is to replace the fuel tank assembly which will come with the a new fuel cap, the fuel return line installed, and the fuel line assembly.

Q:

Where can I find a manual for the Weed Wacker 316790111? I have lost mine.

A:

This manual is no longer available to order or to view online at Manage My Home like most of the newer ones are.

The closest model number manual we found was #316-791860. The basic operation will be the same, but the parts will not interchange, and some details may vary. You can still get the correct parts for the model you have though the Sears Part Direct site.

The oil to gas ratio is 40 to 1. To keep the operation of your machine running smooth, I recommend using Craftsman 2 cycle motor oil. Available also is a premixed blend, on Sears.com. See the images below for more on finding that premix blend.

If the engine is cold you should move the lever to choke before pulling the start cord. When the engine is hot you shouldn’t need the choke. If you are still having problem starting, make sure that you are using fresh fuel in your mixture, or you may need a new 2 cycle spark plug.
