Q:

PLUNGE ROUTER SPINDLE LOCK WILL NOT RE-ENGUAGE

A:

Shop saws and routers go through a lot of use and the dust and fiber can get into and affect parts. The expert will review and respond but I did locate two previous expert posts for this model with information that may help. I attached both links below. I hope this information helps.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the router. The spindle lock does two things when engaged. It locks the spindle and activates a switch to kill power to the router. If the spindle lock is activated the router will not run. If it does not run when you slide the spindle lock off I suspect the switch is stuck. Try sliding the lock back and forth a few times. This might get the switch working again. If it does not work, you will need a volt ohmmeter to diagnose the router. If you have a meter, unplug the router and take it apart. Once it is apart, you can ohm the switch. if you get an open reading on the lock switch it is defective. the new switch can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
