I have the same problem with same model sander (315.11782); the belt wanders all over the place. Sometimes it moves in on the pulleys until it starts throwing sparks and begins eating the housing/frame casting on the sander. Sometimes it moves out and tries to run off the pulleys. This is REALLY annoying and makes using the sander a dreaded experience. I sure would like to know how to get the belt to track correctly. Len

I understand how machinery parts seem to fuse together.  This is most likely just an accumulation of dust particles that have hardened.  If you are following the instructions in the first image below, then a little persistence is most likely all that is needed.  You might try some penetrating oil along the seam to help.  If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.
