Hello Ed,

I'm sorry to hear that your new drill kit will not charge and I would like to assist you. I assume that you are using the batteries that came with the kit and that it will not charge. Do any of the indicator lights on the charger come on? I suggest trying a different outlet if not and if the issue is still there, returning the kit to the store where it was purchased at will allow you to get an exchange if the battery charger is defective.

Please let me know if you would like any further assistance or if the above issue is not correct.

Thank you for your question as to a replacement 19.2 volt battery for the hammer drill.

Yes, you can use the Lithium Ion battery but you cannot recharge the battery correctly in your charger designed for Ni cad batteries.

You can however purchase a 19.2 volt Lithium Ion battery and charger kit and the new charger will charge the older Ni cad batteries.

19.2 volt Lithium Ion battery and charger kit for model 315.115430 .

I hope this will help.
