Thank you for your question on the scrolled jig saw.

If it suddenly stopped then I would suggest checking the brushes for the commutator to make sure that they are touching the armature.

Because of it age there are only new brushes available for replacement parts.

You will need to open the case by removing the bottom sole plate and then splitting the case to check to see if the brushes are not touching the commutator or if the brushes are worn out.

I cannot see the image very well but some of these models you could access the brush caps from the outside of the case. If not then you will need to open the case to get to the brushes.

Dear Sam [or to whom it may concern], I had the same situation, that the saw simply did not turn on; then I just moved the brush wheel [if that is what it is] and it fired up just fine...except that at the other end of the rotating part there is a continuous spark: that can't be good! Should I do anything, or just cross my fingers and wait for the final event? thanx. steve
