A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
The part you mention in the description that attaches to the handle by the machine screw # 2 is part of the auger cable. In order to replace it, an auger cable replacement will be necessary. The part number for the cable is 946-04007.
For convenience, I have included a blue link below that you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect site to view the cable and connector and purchase if needed.

I needed one also & the # is 731-04216A cost $6.31 back in 2011. Put a Flat washer in back of it on handle so it doesn't crack when tightening the bolt . It works !

Q:

Fabric Softener Dispenser MVWB850YW0 Maytag Automatic washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when the softner is backing up in your washer.

On most front load washers, you can remove the dispenser drawer from the housing. Remove the drawer and check for a clog or buildup on the bottom of the dispenser housing where it drains into the hose that carries the water and detergent into the washer tub.

If you do not find an item or clog restricting the flow from the dispenser housing, you may be able to unplug the washer and check the hose from the dispenser to the tub. On most washers, you can access this hose by removing the top panel. Pull the hose off and check for a clog or restriction in the hose.

I have attached the images to remove the top to get to the dispenser.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the cylinder is filling up with fuel, do not attempt to start or run the engine until you correct the problem. The oil and oil filter will need to be drained and replaced after repairing the carburetor. When a cylinder fills with fuel; the fuel will migrate past the rings and contaminate the oil and you could cause the engine to seize due to the lack of proper lubrication. If the fuel fills the cylinder, it can cause a hydraulic effect and prevent the piston/engine from spinning over when it reaches the compression stroke.

The float, needle, and seat are not regulating the fuel level in the carburetor. When this happens, the gas will run into the cylinder and can keep it from turning over if the cylinder is filled with fuel. To cure the problem you will need to take the carburetor back apart and most likely need to replace the needle valve part #696136 and the fuel bowl transfer tube part #698780. If any of the seals/o-rings are leaking located above the fuel transfer tube, it can also cause the same issue.

After you have the carburetor taken care of, remove the spark plug, and turn the engine over by hand. This will remove any fuel left in the cylinder and then replace the oil and filter. Once you have the fuel cleared out leave the spark plug out and change the oil. Then refill the engine and reinstall the spark plug. Now check the operation of the tractor.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.
