Q:

Push mower model 917.370722 - right rear propelled wheel engages only intermittently and mower veers to the side

A:

You need to remove both rear wheels on the mower and clean any debris from behind the dust cover and inside the wheels.

If this doesn't help the problem, replace the drive kit for the right wheel. This kit contains all the parts related to driving the wheel. The part you need for the right wheel is 414860 and the cost is around $29.00.

A:

Hi: I have removed both wheels and misc parts including the dust covers, cleaned it all out. Removed the drive cover on the top of the mower base and cleaned it out. I disassembled the right wheel drive drive unit and cleaned it also. No change. I ordered the various parts individually to rebuild the right wheel drive unit, but nowhere did I see a parts number for a drive wheel kit. This is disconcerting because the kit is less expensive than the parts individually. Where is the parts number for the kit? Thanks.

It's been 6 months with no answer? I can't be the only owner with this trouble since I own 2 of this model and both are doing the same thing with the rear drive wheels locking from rolling in reverse after the drive is released?? I've opened both rear wheels and removed all the drive parts and also removed the drive belt cover on top and cleaned it completely. Testing afterwards proved nothing has changed?
