Both the first and second problem you described before installing the timer and after are normally caused by a bad timer. A:

Thank you. I received the replacement oven control unit--as before, I asked for WB27T11273 but was sent WB27T11311; the packing slip says the latter is the replacement for the former. The package itself indicates some changes to the rear of the panel, but all of the connections (most color coded) to the original control unit are matched by this replacement. I carefully transferred wires one at a time. Again, all of the wiring on the back of the range is in clean and undamaged condition. However, the preheat cycle still malfunctions (after replacing the control unit twice, now, and having replaced the temperature sensor when I replaced the control unit the first time). Here is what still happens: I turn on the oven for 350 degrees; the preheat cycle begins; the cycle signals complete at about 240 degrees. The oven then takes another 20 or so minutes to get to 350 degrees. I measure the temp with a mechanical thermostat; when it and the range say 400, the pizza cooks just right. So, preheat still bad, though control unit replaced twice, sensor replaced once (oven keeps final temp OK, so sensor is OK). Lower element works-I can see it red. Upper element gets red on Broil Hi and Broil Lo. On preheat, one element comes on, then the other, then the first, and so on. What is wrong? Is the supposedly identical alternative oven control unit actually not right for this application? Is there some other control circuit that is invisible to me but malfunctioning? Both elements visibly work and showed 5-10 ohms when tested. But could one or both elements be flawed? Unlikely the sensor is bad because the final temperature is kept. But do I need to replace it anyway? Help! Help!
