Q:

F2 Fault error message 2784088891 Kenmore Kenmore 27 inch electric built-in oven

A:

Thank You for contacting ManageMyLife.com

I understand your frustration when your range stops working. After researching your model I found that the F2 error code on this model indicates that the oven control senses an over-temperature condition. If the oven is not warming up when this error code occurs, this usually indicates that the sensor is bad or the electronic oven control board has failed. After researching your model further I found that both of these parts are no longer available, due to the age of the range.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com

The "F2" fault code implies the oven exceeded 590 degrees with the door unlocked or it exceeded 990 degrees with the door locked. This can be caused by faulty door lock switches, stuck relay contacts or by a faulty oven temperature sensor. The oven sensor will need to be disconnected from the electronic oven control and then the resistance will need to be measured across the two sensor wires using an ohm meter. The oven temperature sensor should measure 1100 ohms at room temperature. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the wall oven by locating the two circuit breakers dedicated for the oven and flipping the two breakers to OFF.

This type of diagnosis will likely need to be performed by a service technician. You could take a chance and replace the oven temperature sensor yourself. The sensor is found protruding into the oven cavity in the upper left or upper right rear corner. It is fastened to the rear oven cavity wall with a couple of screws. The part number is WB21X5301 at the cost of $74.12. If replacing the temperature does resolve the error code then I recommend calling a service technician or you may want to think about replacing the wall oven rather than having it repaired. You can order the oven temperature sensor from Sears Parts Direct .

Q:

What does the F2 error code mean on a Kenmore oven?

A:

The F2 error code on this model indicates that the oven control senses an over-temperature condition. If the temperature is only reaching 210 degrees when this error code occurs, this usually indicates that the sensor is bad or the electronic oven control board has failed. This type of failure normally requires at service technician. The technician will disconnect electrical power and check the resistance of the sensor circuit and check the connections of the sensor at the control board. If the sensor circuit is okay, then the control board would need to be replaced.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this type of failure.
