Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your engine and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 422707-1522-01 and the manufacturer does not provide a diagram besides the one list online. It is possible that you may find videos online that show how to rebuild/reassemble a carburetor. I strongly recommend taking photos of the unit before disassembling. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

I assume the motor is not running. The diagnosis of this issue can be difficult. There are 2 error codes that are commonly confused. The 3E indicates: Over Current is detected. Motor won't turn. Here are the correct readings for the motor. Pin 1 and Pin 2 of CN9 = 3.0 ohms. Pin 1 and Pin 3 of CN9 = 3.0 ohms. Pin 2 and Pin 3 of CN9 = 3.0 ohms. Any 2 Pins (1, 2, 3) on Motor Connector = 3.0 ohms. Your readings are close so it is a toss up.

The E3 indicates: Machine control is attempting to drive the motor but is not seeing any tachometer response. Visual check shows motor is not moving. (Locked Motor, Hall Sensor fault). Possible causes of E3 codes:

  1. Spin drum stuck Verify that the spinner moves freely to eliminate this cause.
  2. Hall Sensor fails or is loose When the Hall Sensor fails or becomes dislodged, the control doesn't recognize that the motor is spinning and shuts down. The result will likely be an "E3" code in the worst case or "SUdS" if it is only getting a partial rpm reading. Check wire harness connector(s) to motor.
  3. A poor connection Check wire harness connector to motor. Unplug connector and pull on each wire, if a wire connector comes loose from the plug, bend locking tab up.
NOTE: If a locking tab is not properly seated in the plug connector, the terminals will not fully engage as the connector is plugged into the Motor Terminal Block. Inspect the terminals on the motor side of the connector. Straighten any bent terminals if they exist. Recheck the harness side of the terminal block if any bent terminals are found. Bent terminals can indicate a problem with the locking tab inside the plug. Reconnect harness plug to Motor Terminal Block. Run washer through a quick service cycle (wash and spin) to check motor operation. I am including the tech sheet in the images below.

Check the thing I talked about above and perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed. I am looking forward to assisting you again in the near future.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . Currently the service calls run in the neighborhood of $150.00 (flat rate labor). The motor (part number 34001437) is approximately $267.74. The control (depending on which series you have) runs between $156.00 to $283.00. Note: You have to have the serial number to determine the series.

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Hi Jim, From the readings you gave me, the motor is reaching the target RPM's. You did not tell me if you checked any of the connections I included in my previous post or if the drum turns freely. This is an extremely hard error code to diagnose, and without this information I am at a disadvantage. I highly recommend having a trained service technician evaluate this problem. Landell

Note: The flat rate labor charge of $150 that is described above is no longer available in most service areas at this time. Currently, there is normally an initial trip fee of about $75 in most areas. The technician will examine the appliance and will provide an estimate for repairs based on the parts and labor needed.
