Q:

Roll-a-matic floor fan

A:

I know how useful a fan can be during this warm weather. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your appliance so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link in where you can enter your appliance model number and a parts list diagram will pop up, please keep in mind that if your appliance is over ten years old parts may be discontinued. I hope my link is useful.

Thank you for your question on the Floor fan.

You are right in that there is little information on a product that is 50 + years old.

They have purged items from that era because so few of them would still be functional and most of the manufactures from that era for fans are not longer in business.

However if you send me a picture of the fan and describe the part that you need I will do my best to help you.

Is there any model number on the fan motor?

We did have some site problems a few days ago so maybe the pictures did not come through.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hi Guys. :-] I finally got a few pictures put together here. Also, someone asked for motor specs. I will send what I saw. I also found a solution to the fiber washer problem I think. I found an O ring the exact same size and since they all are bathed in grease..I'm hoping that it will be OK. :-] Here are the #s and info on the motor. Type XR140, RPPM 959, Packard...Warren, Ohio MFRS #115 7916, 1/5 hp, 115v, 60 cycle, 4.5 amp, 2595. Also, on the original silver stick up farther on the motor A 5 was seemingly stamp into the foil. I couldn't read anything else due to wear etc. Hope this helps. PS: So far the fan has been running half throttle all day. No funny sounds etc. YET! :-]

Thank you the great pictures of the vintage fan. If you are looking for fiber washers most electrical motor shops will have an assortment case with different sizes as spaces washers for electric motors. Some of your old hardware stores and some of the large home centers will have a group of drawers in the fastener isle that has drawers of specialty hardware. Check the link below for some of the different combinations of assortment drawers. You should be able to find the washer there. You could also use white nylon washers. I am sorry but the 115.7916 should be the model number but it is either two old or they never put it into the parts system. You do sound like you have it fixed though. Sam A.

Thank you for the update on the old fan. I am sorry that the motor has finally worn out. If you have an old electric motor shop in your area they may be able to re-bearing and rewind the motor. I would suggest that you ask around or look in the yellow pages for electric motor shops. If you have a WW Grainger store in your area then they may know of an electric repair shop or have a universal replacement motor to fit the fan housing. Sam A.
