Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker stops working. This type of problem will usually be caused by a stopped up water valve. Normally, what usually happens when the water supply is turned off for awhile, when its turned back on, the rush of water will break debris loose inside the water line and this debris will clog up the water valve. A good check for this will be to manually cycle the water valve. Im attaching a picture of how to cycle this icemaker. Toward the end of the cycle, if you can hear a humming sound but there is no water flow, it means the valve is getting energized but not allowing water through. The valve # 5303917098 in this case will need to be replaced. If there is no sound and no water fill, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician will probably be needed to make these checks. Now, if it cycles and fills, it would then indicate a problem with the icemaker itself # 218734400 and it would probably need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

kenmore manual.

A:

I found this manual at this great web site to assist you until your expert can provide free assistance. I also found this article there. I would also check my water filter. If you have one and have not changed it in six months I would change it out. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems and realize it can be very frustrating to have a major appliance act up.

Thank you for choosing ManagemyLife and allowing us the chance to help out. If the water flow was low even without a water filter installed, it will indicate low water pressure to the refrigerator or a defective water valve. SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others. To check the water pressure, shut off the water supply valve to the refrigerator. Now, disconnect the water line connected to the inlet valve behind the refrigerator. I'm attaching a picture of how this water fitting work. Place the loose end of the water line in a pitcher and turn the water valve back on. If the water comes out slow, make sure there is not a kink in the water line. A plumber may be needed, to check the water supply and water lines. If it comes out with good pressure, the water valve will probably need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Click here to schedule service on line at Searshomeservices.com.
