Question and Answers

Q:

How do you change the door seal on a Kenmore upright freezer model 2539266411?

A:

The gasket on this model can be difficult to replace. First unplug the unit from the wall outlet. It will probably be the easiest to remove the whole door and lay it down on the floor. Just take the top door hinge loose and then you will be able to lift the door off the bottom hinge. You will need to take the inner panel loose. Lift up the gasket and under it you should see all the screws, holding both the gasket and inner panel. Remove all the screws and with the panel loose you will be able to remove the gasket. Slide the new gasket in place and place the inner panel back on the door frame. Line up all the holes, tighten the panel and gasket back in place and hang the door back on the freezer. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.

Q:

Is there is a battery that needs replacing in my upright freezer causing it beep?

A:

The temperature alarm does not use a battery; it operates by the house voltage. You are hearing the temperature alarm sounding to inform you that there is a malfunction. If a malfunction causes an unsafe temperature inside the freezer, the red light will blink and a buzzer will sound.

To silence the buzzer, press the ALARM OFF button. The indicator light will continue to blink until a safe freezing temperature is again reached. I added an image with information about the Temperature Alarm feature.

The alarm could sound if the door was left ajar, or left open too long, or if the freezer was just filled with food causing the temperature to rise to an unsafe temperature level.

If the red indicator light never shut off I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your freezer.
