Question and Answers

Why is ice collecting on the bottom of my freezer?

If ice is forming on the bottom the freezer, it indicates the drain is frozen. The ice that is melted during the defrost cycle, can't go down the drain and is running into the bottom of the freezer. To clean the drain, first disconnect power to the unit and then all the food and shelves will need to be taken out. Now the back panel inside the freezer can be removed, allowing you access to the evaporator. The drain will be directly under the evaporator and you will need to remove the ice buildup in it. Some of the ice you will probably be able to break up and remove. Use hot water to remove the rest of the ice and the ice in the drain hole. Keep pouring hot water into the drain hole and wiping the excess, until it flows free, down to the bottom drain pan. If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
