Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern. If only the top shelf is frosting, it indicates a sealed system problem. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping properly. These are checks a technician will be required to make. I'm listing a link you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . Now, it's possible this could be a very expensive repair that would not be economical on this older unit. If you would like more assistance, please reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Owner's manuals are great to have for any troubleshooting problems. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, a suggestion I have is to verified your model number and attach it below so an expert can give you a better answer. Hope this helps!

Our database can hold information for the first ten years, with the model number that was provided I was able to verify that your Kenmore Freezer is from 1993. The manual will no longer be available.

To replace the door gasket take the door off and place it on the floor. Remove the screws under it, all around the door. Pay attention to how the gasket fits on the door panel and slide it off. Install the new gasket, making sure the screw holes line up with the panel and replace the screws. Now put the door back in place and it will probably need to be adjusted. If it's warped, it can usually be popped back in place but sometimes the screws will have to be loosened and then adjust it. Now, if there is some gaps in the gasket, use a hair dryer to soften it, just be careful not to get it too hot.

If you have any additional question please feel free to resubmit your question and we'll be glad to help you.
