Question and Answers

replace top gasket 2539155012 Kenmore Chest freezer

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

You may find it easier to remove the hinges from the cabinet and then be able to lay the door flat upside down to replace the gasket.

If you decide to do that, be very careful when loosening the hinges because they are spring loaded to balance the freezer door. With the lid open have someone support the door as you remove the hinge screws.

If you decide to leave the door on the freezer you may have to have help in removing all the push pins that secure the liner and gasket to the lid.

The problem with doing it this way is that it is hard to align the holes in the gasket and the door lid liner and get the pins back into the holes on the door panel.

If you have to do it alone it will be difficult to keep everything in place with the lid still on.

I wish I had a better solution for you. But when I did these jobs I would remove the lid/door from the freezer and set it on a flat surface and it would go much easier and faster.

If you have items in the freezer you may want to use a couple of quilts or bed covers to keep the cold in the freezer while you replace the gasket.

It you break any of the push pins when you take them out you will need to replace them with new ones. I think it took about 20 or so pins around the perimeter of the door.

I hope this helps and thanks for using We appreciate your business.
