Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly.

For me to be able to tell you the age of the freezer I will need you to reconfirm the serial number. It should have 2 letters in the front of some numbers and then I will be able to tell you the age of your freezer.
Reply to the thread below with the needed information.

I double checked the serial number and what I gave you is what is on the back... Can you just give me a range of years that the model was produced?

Q:

What do I need to do to stop my chest freezer from running all the time?

A:

You need to put a good thermometer inside your freezer for an hour and see what the temperature is inside. The temperature should be -5 to +5 degrees. If the temperature is within this range there is nothing wrong with it. If the temperature is below this range adjust the thermostat warmer. If it is above this temperature range, you should get a technician to diagnose and repair the problem.

Some things that make a freezer run more are:

  1. Low on freon.
  2. Thermostat failed.
  3. Compressor going bad.
  4. Freezer too empty, put milk cartons filled with water inside to fill up the empty space.
  5. Ambient temperature too high.
  6. Poor air circulation around the cabinet.
