Question and Answers

Q:

Refrigerator will not turn off. 25378837791

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 253.78837791. From reviewing the details on your model, it depends on what the temperatures are in both sections. The freezer temp range should be from 0-5 degrees and the refrigerator should be from 36-40 degrees. The best way to check the temperature is, by place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If the temperatures are warmer than the temps listed, it won't cycle off. In this case it could be several problems. Maybe one of the fans quit, check if the lights are turning off when the doors are closed, also check if the doors are sealing good. If the temperatures are colder, set the thermostat (refrigerator control) to a slightly warmer setting and if it still won't shut off, the thermostat will need to be replaced.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.
