Question and Answers

Why won't my new refrigerator ice maker fill with water?

First, water is not going to travel up into the ice maker until the ice maker cycles. It will cycle once the thermostat inside the ice maker closes to begin a cycle. Located on the side of the ice maker is a wire arm that will automatically slowly rise and fall once the ice maker cycles. The wire arm is also used to shut the ice maker off. If the arm is raised up high enough it will stay up and it will stop the ice maker from working, so make sure the wire arm is in the down (ON) position. The ice maker will have to cycle one time to fill with water before it begins to make ice. It must have enough time to freeze the water in the ice maker mold before it will cycle and harvest the ice. By the time you get this answer the ice maker will probably have the ice bucket full of ice.
