There are 3 main reasons for an icemaker to stop working: Temperature gets too warm (above 10 degrees) The icemaker itself The water valve The freezer temperature should be between 0 - 5 degrees. To check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages, air temperature is not a good check. If the temperature is ok, the icemaker will need to be checked. To see if this icemaker will cycle, pull the front cover off and you will see 2 gears (see picture). Turn the small gear counterclockwise and the icemaker should start into a cycle. If it won't cycle, the icemaker # 241642501 will need to be replaced. If it does cycle, toward the end of the cycle it should fill with water. If it does not fill but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # 241803701 will need to be replaced. If nothing happens some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I'm adding a site you can check to have a technician out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Purging the water line will not help with this issue. The water line to the dispenser is separate from the ice maker water line. To purge the water line you would dispense 2-3 gallons of water from the dispenser. If you need more assistance, please respond to this thread, with additional details. I hope this helps.

Thank You. If there is no power going to the water valve. could the ice maker be broke even though it still cycles. If I put a volt meter on the connector at the valve. Should there only be power there when the icemaker is at the end of the cycle.
