It's tough to be without a working refrigerator. If I understand correctly the freezer is now working at least and the problem is with the refrigerator section. It is important that the freezer is working. If the freezer works but the refrigerator doesn't then the problem can be the evaporator fan or the air dampers. The fan in the freezer must be working. There should be no frost on the freezer evaporator. Frost build up can reduce air flow to the refrigerator section. The air dampers provide a channel for the cold air from the freezer to reach the refrigeration section. The 253 is the beginning of a good model number but there should be additional numbers as well. If you can reply with a complete model number I may be able to assist you further wirh resolving this problem.

If there is still frost in the freezer the defrost system can be checked. In the console of the refrigerator section is a defrost timer. See the 1st image below. There may be a small round plug to pry out to access the timer knob. The knob can be turned with a straight edge screwdriver or even a quarter. Turn the knob till it clicks into defrost and the compressor stops running. Listen in the freezer for a sizzle and pop from the heater melting the ice. If you hear nothing then likely the defrost heater andor defrost thermostat is the problem. After 20-30 minutes the defrost timer should advance out of defrost and the compressor start running again. I hope this helps.
